The spoil board I was using was "too soft". It deforms slightly when I clamp down the workpiece.

Then I remembered I have some 3/4 phenolic plywood lying around. Not as good as birch plywood, but much better than the Agusan plywood.

I will be making a lot of dust in the next few weeks. Time to build a dust shoe.

Simple design. Made from the left-over phenolic plywood

Still missing the bottom half that holds the brush

I realized there is a problem with the design as soon as I looked underneath.

Large diameter bits will be very close to the bristles. And suction of the dust collector will bring the bristles in contact with the spinnning bit. Makakalbo ang dust shoe ko.

Good thing I only used brad nails to secure the brush into the 10-mm deep groove. Madaling baklasin

The next version will be open at the back. This will keep the brush away from the bit. And more air will be flowing from the back, past the cutting bit, and into the dust port. Thus improving dust/chip collection. In theory, at least.

Trial by fire. Plenty of errros. Learned a lot.

Good thing the dust don't get airborne.

The frame design has proven its usefulness. It gives plenty of elbow room for positioning the stock.
