Early today I recieved an order for another Harbeth stand, this one would be made of Walnut and is for an SHL5 plus.
It always start with rough materials but this once is better than most... and since the grains are already exposed, I can choose which parts to use and which to avoid.
Image
I then cut the pieces to rough dimension
Image
then remove more materials still...
Image
that way the thicknesser will have less work.
Image
making sure the sizes are square I resort to my handplane for the work
Image
cut to size, cut the joinery and individually fitting results to the desired fit.
Image
added some features the stands are known for
Image
matching the materials for aesthetic intetions
Image
marking joinery positions
Image
and cutting mortices with a domino.
Image
glue up
Image
and squaring
Image
then cofirming the squareness
Image
removing some of the excess glue
Image
got to get me more of these Groz clamps, I just love them
Image
I then cut some more materials for the stretchers and made the mortices as well
Image
domino....
Image
dry test fitting
Image
with everything satisfactory, I move to some clean up. Endgrain is somewhat hard to remove in situations like this.
Image
Normally it takes me about 20 mins to clean up that portion alone... until I made this.
Image
Now it took me 30mins to clean up all 16 ends.
Image
Had a very long day and finished 11:40pm but all is good and productive... not bad for a day's work!

When you finish that late, do you still take a shower before going to bed? Or just go straight to bed? :lolno:

No really, my wife told me to just remove the saw dusts, go to sleep and take a bath when I wake up in the morning.

A day before Christmas activites and chemicals arrive....
This chemical added with any finish would provide anti static properties...
Image
then some glow in the dark powders...
Image
and some magnetic paint for some fun unusual builds....
