Boysen Primeguard where to buy?

Unread post #1 by avmanansala » Thu Jul 21, 2016 1:48 pm

I'm doing a lot of small metal projects from time being and Im looking for metal priming alternative. I want to try this water-based primer.

I'm looking for a water-based acryclic primer and I learned that Boysen has "Primeguard"

From the website
DESCRIPTION: BOYSEN® Primeguard™ is a water-based acrylic maintenance primer designed to have excellent adhesion and metal passivation. BOYSEN® Primeguard™ is used where superior protection and good adhesion on hard-to-adhere metal surfaces is desired. It eliminates the need for a vinyl butyral wash primer tie coat.

PRINCIPAL USES: For galvanized iron, stainless steel, aluminum and other metal works such as iron and steel frame.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
Exceptional adhesion - as BOYSEN® Primeguard™ has exceptional adhesion even on stainless steel and aluminum. It is also an environment-friendly alternative to traditional butyral wash primers.

Corrosion Resistance- It passivates the metal substrate to provide good corrosion resistance on carbon steel.

Rapid Drying - dries in 20-30 minutes, compared to 8 hours for enamel primers. Recoat interval is 2 to 4 hours, resulting in faster paint jobs and significant labor cost savings.

Thermoplastic Nature - Remains flexible over time. It does not pose problems of intercoat adhesion and is capable of being topcoated by most solvent-based home coatings.

Environmentally Safe - It has low odor, is non-flammable, and does not use hazardous solvents. It does not contain lead and is non-toxic compared to traditonal anti-corrosive primers.

Easy Water Cleanup - no need for thinners and solvent reducers. Tools and painting equipment, spills and paint drips while still wet can be cleaned by water and soap solutions.

PRACTICAL COVERAGE: 30 - 40 square meter /4-liters / coat

SURFACE DRY: Thirty (30) minutes

DRY THROUGH: Two (2) hours

DRY FILM THICKNESS: 1.5 mils/coat

OVERCOATING INTERVAL: Allow 2-4 hours before recoating.

THINNING: Water if necessary

APPLICATION: By brush, airless spray or roller.

PACKAGING: 4-liter cans

AVAILABLE COLORS:
B4310 Primeguard™ Red Oxide
B4301 Primeguard™ White

Let us know how good this product is bro. To me it looks like a better alternative because it's water based and can be thinned w/water.

Using acrylic lacquer thinner on my current metal primers ( Galva coat or Boysen - both two stage ) is also expensive and the smell is offensive.

Available yan sa CW at Wilcon Home depot.
Price per gallon is P680 - P720.

I'm using it sa mga metal trusses, angle bar and c-purlins. Excellent adhesion and fast drying.

Hindi ko pa natry kung pwede sa spray gun at kung pwede i-top coat ng lacquer based paint. Pag enamel based top coat walang problema.

Great!

I wish all paints are water-based.
I'd rather add life to my years than years to my life.
