Violaine wrote:I agree absolutely on the 40 tooth blade but choose the thin kerf variety and best suited for underpowered contractor saws like the one you have. Freud is on top of my list too. You can have the 5/8" bore enlarged to your specifications.

I was kinda hoping to have a standard 1/8" kerf so that I can already use it for future inlay attempts. That would certainly simplify the jig that I have in mind.

Would it help if I feed slowly and still use a standard size kerf?

Forgive me if all these things have already been asked before.

Cheers!

estib wrote:Regarding the arbor size, you have these options

1. Have the circular saw blade hole bored to 30mm.
2. Have the arbor flange machined to remove the raised center part so it's flat (motor shaft of the 10J is 5/8).
3. Have a machine shop fabricate a new arbor flange.

I went with option 3 since I already bought a Freud 80T (30mm arbor) and another cheap 40T plus the stock 24T Bosch blade. In option 2 you can still use your stock 24T blade, just use a saw blade 5/8 to 30mm bushing.

Thanks for the options. I have access to a neighbor machine shop so I'd also probably go with #3. Though it never occurred to me that the motor shaft of the 10J is already 5/8", I should have measured that yesterday. That means I can install the new 5/8" blade directly to the motor shaft. Yahoo.

Forgot to ask, should the fabricated arbor flange be made of mild steel? Stainless ok too?

Any particular model brader? Or is there only one Freud 40T?

A link to that particular blade will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Is this correct? Freud D1040X Diablo 10" X 40T

Would a Freud D1050X Diablo 10" X 50T ATB Combination Saw Blade be a lesser choice?

Thanks!

Mine is made of steel not stainless, what kind of steel I don't know :lolno: I said to the machine shop to just use the same material as the Bosch arbor flange.

Haha ok just got a little OC there. Will have it done in steel then. Thanks!

Mild steel should be OK. Hindi mo naman gagamitin as anvil. Ang mahalaga balanced.

But don't take my word for it. Programmer ako, not a materials engineer.

MIld steel lang pagagamit ko. They still have an access to a foundry that complicated my thinking. The original flange I think is powder coated, straight steel lang parang glorified washer na lang lalabas yan. At least may pag asa pala. Tomorrow will try to dismantle again and measure the exact motor shaft diameter.

Electronics ako eh, malayo din. :lolno:
