Ref and Aircon

Not sure if this is the right forum for this thread, but here goes...

My daughter is moving out and we're helping set her up. Top of the list would be a small aircon and a ref (between 7 to 10cu ft). I think inverter models are more the norm nowadays for continuously used appliances so I'm focusing on that.

Would anyone here recommend some brands/models? Top criteria for me would be durability, efficiency, and cost; probably in that same ranking.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks, Jun.

Ref, aircon, or both?

I've got two x LG fridges (refs) here that have had for two years with no problems on either.

The air-cons here are Panasonics, I think they've been installed for around five years now, all still operating fine.

My honest take on this...
Our inverter 2HP split type Carrier since 2009 shows no slowing down.
Ref either Condura, LG, Panasonic, Samsung...in order of least preference.
My gripe with samsung aircon, rc type, the remote got broken after 3 yrs out of warranty..
Another window type carrier remote controlled type got a replacement PCB for about 3,500 pesoa after 3 yrs in service..
Lesson learned: For window type, better with manual selector or timer switches than remote controlled.
Their (Carrier) split type are built like a tank.
Otherwise get a SubZero or a Wolf! Lol

Am using Hitachi inverter aircon for 4 years now, no issues whatsoever. For ref, we use Samsung inverter series as well and it bogged down bec of a relay only. Nothing major and their service is efficient naman.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I also noticed that Whirlpool refs are always more expensive. And they have this No-Chill system which they claim is better than inverter. Anyone have any experience about this?

Are you sure we're still talking about refs and aircons?

I googled no-chill whirlpool and... :wtf:

BTW, we have a 5-year old Panasonic inverter ref. Thermistor (defrost sensor) broke and had to be replaced 2 years ago.

I would say Panasonics. Matsushita (former Panasonic name) motors are still as reliable as ever.
