Galvalum Metal with Asphalt Granules top coat

Unread post #1 by balarila » Sun Dec 17, 2017 8:22 am

We are re-roofing a barbecue area and, initially, were drawn to Onduline asphalt roofing that we saw at Wilcon. I read from this forum and others, however, that Onduline is not that good for durability and maintenance.

Our contractor recommended the " Galvalum Metal with Asphalt Granules top coat". I saw a sample and it looks like Onduline but it has a galvanized sheet backing. Looks a lot more durable.

Does anyone have any experience with this roofing material and would care to comment?

Thanks in advance.

Looks similar to Decra. Almost went with Decra years ago but decided against it. My impression is it could be deformed easily when workers step on it during installation.

Also may prescribed distance yan between purl insurance. Baka hindi match yung existing.

How about comparing the costs between the two? I like Onduline but is it ok for Philippine storms? Id like to know how is the best installation procedure.

I used Decra corona shake for my roofing, zincalume, with 5 layer coat on top of the steel base (zinc-aluminum, 2 micron acrylic resin, base coat, natural stone chips, clear acrylic overglaze) The other side is coated with zinc-aluminum & 2 micron acrylic resin. It's about a year old now. Seems durable, I stepped on it many times. The brochure says 50 years warranty. I hope i's true. Got it for 350 per pc (1250x368mm), iirc.

Thanks, guys. Been trying to respond since this morning but kept getting cut.

Price of galvalume with asphalt coating is 60% for than Onduline. But it looks far more durable. Just looking for comments on experience with this product as I'd hate for the asphalt to separate from the metal after a few years.

Will take a look at Decra.

Decra Corona is around PHP1,400 per square meter, installed.

If my memory serves me right.
