Good point about picking up hair. Hair does not decompose.

Our grit chamber in our wastewater plants catch a lot of material that stay intact. Hair is one of them. We also catch corn husks and lots of condom!
I'd rather add life to my years than years to my life.

So to cut the story short.
Floor drain needs also a P trap.
Just like that.

How about the toilet bowl, do we also need to trap the shit out of the toilet bowl? Or the toilet bowl already has this p trap?

P-trap is needed on floor drain to seal the gas coming from the septic tank. For water closet (toilet bowl) no need to install a p-trap.

Some people used to install an air vent I think for the water closet?

Nope, I think it connects to the drain, and sometimes see it sticking out the roof. I might be mistaken though.

Its a relief vent.

The flushing action of the toilet involves much water suddenly flowing into the sewer pipes. The vent is where the air in the sewer escapes so it doesn't "push back" the water. That is sewer air BTW, so it has to be vented through the roof so your house doesn't stink.

Also, pressure builds up in the septic tank as because the decomposition produces methane. The toilet in a friend's house burps every once in a while because their plumber didn't install a vent. :lolno:

Ang simpleng explanation ng air vent.

Naalala nyo pa ba noon bata pa kayo. Nilalagyan nyo ng condensed milk yun tasty bread or pandesal. Pag isa lang ang butas sa lata hindi mag flow yun condesed milk. Kailangan butasan mo yun upper side ng lata para magflow yun gatas.

Same principle ng air vent sa plumbing system.
